FLOATING BILLBOARDS

"As in business, success on the water depends on strong team work, leadership, communication and a competitive edge."
Sir Robin Knox-Johnston
Chairman of Clipper Ventures Plc and the first person to sail single-handed, non-stop around the world.
Ocean yacht racing and record breaking are two of great human challenges and that is why the sport of ocean sailing is so attractive for companies big and small.
In addition to both physical and mental skills ocean yacht racing, demands the most sophisticated and latest developments in yacht design and construction, as well as in the areas of nutrition, navigation, communications, media and safety.
It is a clean, exciting, high-tech sport, deeply in touch with nature. Sailing is a clear in concept, it is mythical and romantic, it is something people can dream about and above all it is packed with action and drama.
Ocean yacht racing and record breaking features endless seas, reefs and other obstacles such as icebergs or shipping, famed and feared capes, storms and calms, tropical hot and southern cold weather conditions, fantastic yachts, and above all people battling day and night against untamed forces of nature.
Ocean yacht race is a long lasting project, which creates many additional possibilities for teaser and follow-up events.
Sailing, in particular ocean yacht record breaking attempts and yacht racing seems like a fantastic idea, once a goal is set the work begins to put all the aspects of the plan in motion. It seems easy and simple, just following the plan to get to the final goal of winning at the finish line. But the first challenge is preparation, planning, coordination, yacht acquisition and crew training for
the voyage.
Then once at sea you have to get through squall after squall, and every day a new solution must be found to stay on course and ahead of the competition. It is very much like any business endeavour.
Companies with vision embrace such ideas to channel their investment dollars into increase in sales, improved relationships with customers and suppliers alike, raising staff morale and training, promotion of brand or name, to name just a few benefits derived from the partnership between business and yachting.
“… Ocean yachting is one of the few remaining sports where one cannot cheat. There is just the wind and the water and you must take them on. …”
Bernard Stamm (SUI) skipper of the Open 60 CHEMINEES POUJOULAT

Big-time sailing is now a marketing driven sport with high media impact and commitment of high level financial contribution is critical.
The RICH Challenge is about creation of partnerships between the business and community through the competitors taking part in the event. Such partnerships can bring long reaching benefits to all those involved. The financial commitments by prospective sponsors may vary depending on a level of involvement and associated benefits. They may range from Secondary Yacht Sponsorships to Primary Yacht Sponsorships, or the Outright Yacht Sponsorships to the Event Naming Rights. There are also opportunities for companies to become Exclusive Suppliers of Goods and Services as well as the Race Village Sponsors in each port of call.
Our events are also about people and the community in general. We achieve our objectives through the extensive media coverage incorporating television, radio, print and Internet. Through our media unit we focus our attention on production and supply of the news items, lifestyle programs and documentaries.
“I won this Vendee Globe before the start with the choices I made, with the team and the experience I have built up - 80 per cent of the end result is before the start of the race ... remaining 20 per cent is the competition”
